Meet Amy, Our September Guest at Homes of Hope!

Hi! I am Amy Rothaermel.  I live in a suburb of New Orleans with my husband and twin daughters. I worked as a physical therapist at the VA for many years. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2023.  It took a while to be diagnosed and my doctors in New Orleans didn’t agree on my course of care, and therefore I had no treatment for three months.

I came to MD Anderson in June 2023 desperate for a plan. I was so happy with the care I have received there. I have traveled back and forth from New Orleans to MD Anderson in Houston many times and have many more trips to come. Having the Homes of Hope condo to stay in for our upcoming trip is such a blessing as I can no longer work and travel/lodging are a financial burden. It will really help my family not only financially but I am at ease knowing there is a safe spacious place for my family for our upcoming trip. Thank you to all the donors who are helping families with pancreatic cancer like myself.
